Delhi's Metro Rail will provide a Mass Rapid Transport System for the city and its first phase will consist of 11 km of underground tunnels and 44 kms of elevated and surface corridors. There will be 10 stations underground and 34 stations on or above ground. The date of commissioning is in the Year 2005. While the underground will run in the north- south direction, the surface and elevated corridor will span across the mid-riff of Delhi in the east-west direction.

Elevated Viaduct from ISBT to Tis Hazari for DMRC Ltd The box girder superstructure for almost the entire length shall be constructed by precast segmental construction with epoxy glued joints. The prestressing cables will be internal to the concrete. The methodology of construction will be "span by span". Only one end prestressing of permanent cables is contemplated, the other end of the cable being pre-blocked.

  The precast segments shall be fabricated in a centralised precasting yard adjacent to Nizamuddin bridge site. All the concrete shall also be produced in the precasting yard and transported to the flyover sites using transit mixers.
