  ALLHABAD BY-PASS (GANGA BRIDGE) |
ALLHABAD BY-PASS (BRIDGE Over River Ganga) Commissioned by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), the one kilometer long bridge across the River Ganga near Allahabad is located on National Highway No. 2 Separate structures were designed for 2 lanes each for the up and down traffic. The span arrangement selected was 63.2m + 4x95m + 63.2m = 506.4m. Two such units with expansion joints at the highway point cater to the river discharge. Precast segmental construction was used to get a high quality product with excellent finish and fast erection speed. Jack-down well-sinking was employed for the foundations for greater control over tilt and shift. Shock Transmission Units (STUs) were incorporated for countering earthquake forces in an efficient manner. Concrete crash barriers have been provided on either side of the carriageway and a light steel railing on the edge of the footpath.
